Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Galen Bray from the Lands of the Princes was relieved as he boarded the ship. According to the mage in Voulhire, lives were toys in this land. The sibling rivalry had led to intense wars, and Galen was happy that the papers given to him would help him run to Voulhire. His great-uncle had identified him as the heir to his property. Standing on the shore of Magnum Caelum, he was relieved, not knowing what was brewing on this side of the world. The king had tried to convince the people that Meldorath, a powerful mage (even more than the eiodi) who had caused a stir in Hillport, was dead. However, news of Meldorath being alive spread from one mouth to the other. No citizen had to know. But could this mage be contained, or was there an eventuality? What would happen in this seemingly prosperous country?
The introduction to We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is terrific. The scene begins with magic and the great extent of the man who wields the deadliest art of magic in Voulhire. I understood the small town of Hillport better, laying a substantial foundation for the story. Lord Eldus came in to fill a void left by two evil lords. Therefore, it was easy to understand his family's fears and his ambition to make a difference in this small town.
Additionally, coupled with the exceptional description and background of these two countries and their rulers, I was captivated by the character presentation. For a country with so many political feuds, it was easy to know how these leaders viewed each other. I could not get over how well King Wilhelm read the Lord High Chancellor, Midius Maido, taking note of every expression he made around him.
I rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz 5 out of 5 stars. The book is perfectly edited as well as engaging. Even while talking about the dangers lurking within Voulhire, a lot of humor was used, creating an air of positivity and realism in this land. Although there were many characters, it was fascinating to see how they all blended in character to form a force that had an indubitable effect and taught much about this country.
In conclusion, there is no negative aspect that I came across. People interested in magic and traditional government systems will love this book. The towns appear ancient yet have a perfect touch of modernity, bringing out the best impression one needs to blend in. Although there are some violent scenes, readers over 14 should take the chance to walk on the cobblestone streets of Voulhire.
