Leaving one's homeland for another destination is common, motivated by factors such as familial ties, business opportunities, or the pursuit of safety. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fictional narrative following the journey of Galen, a young man who flees from the oppressive land of the Princes to seek refuge and reunite with his ailing uncle in the esteemed realm of Voulhire. Galen aims to inherit his uncle's renowned blacksmithing business in Magnum Caelum, a city within Voulhire.

The novel delves into the intricacies of Voulhire, portraying its diverse cities and interconnected tales. Magic is prevalent yet feared, mainly due to its misuse by a once-respected general turned oppressive ruler of Hillport. Soulhire serves as the capital, housing the elite, while other cities offer distinct atmospheres, from industrialization to tranquilly and spirituality. The narrative sheds light on the plight of those in the prince's land, driving many to seek refuge in Voulhire. Through its characters and their narratives, the book unveils the challenges faced by each city's inhabitants, including conflicts with rivals and leaders.

I loved Tysz's writing style for its immersive storytelling and vivid descriptions. The narrative unfolds through the perspectives of individual characters, lending a unique and captivating quality to the storytelling. I was drawn into the richly depicted fight scenes, which enhanced the fantasy experience. The book's concise yet gripping nature makes it a compelling read, akin to watching an unbelievable movie. Its suspenseful ending sets the stage for eager anticipation of the next installment in the series.

Notably, I also loved this book for its flawless editing and seamless incorporation of magical elements. There's nothing to dislike about this book. The author did a wonderful job with this novel. I particularly appreciate the brevity of the book and its inclusion of magical elements. The author's skill in crafting this series is commendable.

It caters to fantasy enthusiasts, particularly those intrigued by parallel magical realms and action-packed narratives featuring magic. Overall, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies earns a 5 out of 5 stars rating for its enthralling storytelling, making it a must-read for fans of the genre.
