Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
"We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.
I initially felt unsure of reading the book, but after reading the first few chapters, I got interested in it and eagerly anticipated the finale. I like Galen's character, who journeys to Voulhire after the death of his uncle and got opportunity to inherit his uncle's blacksmith company while also rebuilding the troubled town of Hillport under King Wilhelm Arcolo. The novel dives into the obstacles faced by Lord Eldus Alderman in repairing the unstable city of Hilport after moving to the castle with his family, his wife, Charlotte, and his children, Isla and Marshus.
Meldorath Delehei was General of the Voulhirian Southern Army for several years, serving under King Wilhelm of Voulhire. Meldorath quit the prestigious job to take a low-level position in the southern seaside community of Hillport before rising to prominence there. He resigned as Chief Magistrate and settled in Hillport. Meldorath arrived at the castle on a certain night, stormed it alone, and declared himself Lord. The brilliant and powerful Mage-General was now referred to as "Lord Meldorath." Meldorath was sentenced to death by King Wilhelm after he was discovered conducting horrific experiments on humans.
I must appreciate the author's concept on the demography of various sites in Voulhire, which includes extensive descriptions that helps reader like me to clearly imagine each spo, which I believe it's same with other readers.
The book's action scenes are infrequent yet fascinating, with the use of magic frequently heightening the intensity, especially at key moments.
The author successfully integrates themes from the ancient and modern worlds, employing both first and third-person views, which was an effective combination.
The several cities in Voulhire appear to be confusing to me, however there is a glossary at the end of the book. It explains all of the unique words, ideas, and names from the universe of Voulhire, placed alphabetically.
I must commend the book "We Are the Voulhire" deserves more than five stars for all of its excellent commentary.
I highly suggest this book, however it is not appropriate for teenagers.
I could not find any typing errors in the book; the author must have gotten a top-notch and most competent editor, who did an excellent job. Congratulations to the writer and editors.
I give this book 5 stars.
