One of the strengths of this book, and probably my favorite, is that how well-written it was. At first, it seems like the story is very convoluted and random but as I go along reading it, everything seems to fall in its place. It is just like destiny, or fate, which has a mysterious way of bringing everything together despite all of this randomness. The story and the lore of the book turned out to be engaging and well-crafted without the need to borrow elements from popular fantasy series. I have read and loved the Harry Potter and the Percy Jackson series so I would have an inclination to these two when it comes to reading fantasy novels. It was a slow start but as I turn the pages one after the other, I found myself buried deep into its story and all I want to know more than what will unfold is how it unfolds.
This brings me to the next thing I like about this, the mystery sprinkled in every pages of this book. As I have mentioned before, I read and love the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series and that tells a story. Mysteries wrapped in those books are unfolded as you go along its pages. But with this book, with all its mysteries, likes to wrap it like an onion (It has layers). You go along the pages of this book, you find more mysteries to uncover.
The book was well-edited and well-formatted to fit in the interface of an e-reader making it easy to read.
Overall, I would rate this book 5 out of 5. The story of the book is slowly paced in the beginning, but it snowballs fast and, buries you deep in its story, lore and mysteries that you want to know what's next. And that is the beauty of it, slow enough to not bore you but fast enough to not overwhelm you. The story and the lore, along with its mysteries, are presented in a very engaging way that you are left in a vast world without feeling lost because of the sprinkled mystery trails for the reader to explore. It also established each character's personality well that each chapter provides different perspective of the same scenario. The slow start might be seen as negative but it turns out that this is all intended and worked well with the development of the narrative.
This book would highly appeal to fantasy novel lovers who look for rich lore and vast adventures.
