Review of Sent to Watch
5 and 5 stars ★★★★★
"Sent to Watch" by David J. Lebenstein takes readers on a thrilling cosmic adventure, following the Svavapass family as they conquer obstacles to reach Earth. The author, Lebenstein, weaves an action-packed and emotionally stirring tale that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. This novel is a historical science fiction story that is set in post-Napoleonic England. It revolves around the lives of spies who are tasked with observing primitive planets, particularly Planet 48. They have been instructed to simply observe without interfering in any way, whether it pertains to the planet's development or otherwise. The story follows two spies known as Ori and Uni, who integrate themselves into the society of Planet 48. Their task becomes increasingly intricate as they discover a faction beyond their influence, leading Ori and Uni to devise a plan to disrupt the planet's development and thwart its takeover.
The story unfurls gracefully, balancing a delicate mix of melancholy and exhilaration that captivates readers. Amidst the limitless expanse of the cosmos, a mesmerizing tale unfolds, intricately weaving together the trials faced by captivating individuals and the bonds that hold a family together. The emotional intricacies of every character are expressed breathtakingly, inviting readers to forge a deep connection with their remarkable journey. The author masterfully delves into the depths of the human experience, from the barren corners of faraway planets to heart-rending instances of separation. The blend of sorrow and adventure creates a compelling and thought-provoking narrative. Get ready to be on the edge of your seat as the Svavapass family faces thrilling challenges and unexpected adversaries in action-packed sequences.
No vulgar language or erotic content.
I did not come across any vulgar or erotic content in the novel. There could be a subtle insinuation of sexuality in the scene where Ori and Debbie have a heated conversation. Furthermore, I noticed some blank pages in the PDF file, including pages 4, 40, 48, 68, 102, 132, 156, 168, 176, 182, 192, 202, 262, 272, 284, and 308. These could have been intentional for stylistic purposes, but it's worth noting.
I was completely captivated by this book, which rarely happens to me. By the end, it had moved me to tears. I was so enthralled that I devoured it within a mere three days. The writing is not only exquisite but also showcases the characters in a way that truly resonates with me. I formed such a strong connection with Uni and Ori, particularly in observing their relationship. Their playful and affectionate dynamic was one of my cherished highlights.
