Are you a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek? Rejoice!!! Another intergalactic masterpiece that you will love is here.

"Sent to Watch" by David J. Lebenstein is a remarkable fusion of science fiction, historical narrative, and political intrigue that transports readers on an exhilarating journey through time, space, and the complexities of interstellar diplomacy.

Lebenstein masterfully weaves factual historical events, such as the Battle of Waterloo, into a captivating science fiction narrative, providing readers with a fresh perspective on history while exploring cultural and political dynamics. The representation of tensions between Protestants and Catholics, as well as the plight of the Irish under English rule, adds depth and relevance to the story, enriching the narrative experience which I found intriguing.

At the heart of the book lies the Noninterference Protocol, a cornerstone principle binding agents of the Interplanetary Intelligence Service as they clandestinely observe and evaluate primitive planets for potential inclusion in the Confederation of Civilized Planets. The discovery of additional inhabited planets, coupled with threats from the tyrannical Vittmian Empire, sets the stage for a gripping tale of ethical dilemmas, strategic alliances, and technological advancements.

Lebenstein's exploration of multi-planetary travel and the intricacies of interstellar governance is both inspiring and educational. The inclusion of elements such as the space traveling and adaptation school adds depth and richness to the narrative, inviting readers to immerse themselves in a world where learning and exploration are paramount.

From its thought-provoking premise to its flawless editing, "Sent to Watch" shines as a standout work of speculative fiction. While the rule of non-interference may initially seem restrictive, the narrative masterfully demonstrates its effectiveness in achieving the greater goal of preserving the integrity of developing civilizations.

I wholeheartedly rate the book 5 out of 5 stars, as the book's numerous strengths far outweigh any minor criticisms. Whether you're a lover of historical narrative, a seeker of political intrigue, or an enthusiast of visionary science fiction, this book promises an unforgettable adventure that will leave a lasting impression. David J. Lebenstein has crafted a literary masterpiece that transcends genres and invites readers to ponder the complexities of the universe and the boundless possibilities of human potential.
