Homecoming by Jude Austin focuses on the growth and development of the two main characters, Kata and Tau, throughout the story after they break free from GenTech. Having fled GenTech, the two now search for refuge in this sequel. Their journey is fraught with constant obstacles as GenTech agents relentlessly track them. Survival depends on locating allies willing to help them elude their oppressors. The book emphasizes how Kata retains his old memories as Kalin while still evolving into the new person he is becoming.

I love that the smooth narrative flow built by the author leads to an unexpected yet satisfying conclusion. I also love Tau's evolving sense of identity as he gains greater self-awareness. Tau struggles to determine his own desires and capabilities, which exceed what others presume. Honestly, this sequel was more interesting and well-developed than the first book in the series. I would advise, though, that you read the first book before reading this sequel because the backstory will help you understand how they arrived at the point they currently are.

In summary, the evolution of the central characters, paired with the author's skillful storytelling, creates an engaging story that left me eager to read the next book in the "Five Worlds" series. I'd like to put it out there that this book contains violence, some adult content, and foul language. While handled discreetly, it's a good idea for readers to be aware of it before reading it so that those who are sensitive to such content will be aware.

I recommend Homecoming by Jude Austin to those who love reading science fiction. Honestly, this book is a bit different from your regular science fiction, and you will not be disappointed by it. Even though I encountered a few errors while reading the book, it was not enough for me to remove a star from the rating. In the absence of any other negative aspects, I gladly rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
