"30th Century: Escape" by Mark Kingston Levin is an exhilarating journey through time and identity. Set against the backdrop of the thirtieth century, the novel presents a gripping conflict between two distinct groups: the Syndos, genetically modified humans, and the Naturals. As a reader, I was torn between the two sides, deeply invested in understanding their motivations and ideologies.

At the heart of the story is Captain Jennifer Hero, a compelling protagonist whose complexities drive the narrative forward. Her decision to embark on a solo mission back in 2015, despite the risks involved, showcases her depth of character and inner turmoil. Levin expertly navigates Jennifer's emotional journey as she grapples with grief, love, and the search for self-discovery amidst the unfamiliar landscape of the past.

The juxtaposition of advanced technology and primitive society creates a rich tapestry of world-building that immerses the reader in both the futuristic setting of the thirtieth century and the stark realities of twenty-first-century Earth. Jennifer's struggle to adapt to the cultural norms of 2015 adds an intriguing layer of tension to the narrative, highlighting the clash between her advanced intellect and the limitations of the era.

Levin's exploration of themes such as identity, morality, and the consequences of genetic manipulation elevates "30th Century: Escape" beyond typical science fiction fare. By presenting both sides of the conflict with nuance and empathy, the author invites readers to question their own beliefs and values, making for a thought-provoking reading experience. There is nothing to dislike about the book and it is well-edited. For its compelling story, richly drawn characters, and plot, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars!

In conclusion, "30th Century: Escape" is a captivating blend of sci-fi adventure and philosophical inquiry that kept me thoroughly engaged from start to finish. With its well-drawn characters, immersive world-building, and thought-provoking themes, this novel is a must-read for fans of the genre.
