Heaven and Earth by Arturo Riojas is a book I have enjoyed reading. The story line of is very captivating to the reader as it shift plot from one scene to another. The parallel activities happening on a spacecraft Regnelach on the outer pace above Atlanta USA and the activities happening on the on earth in some specific organizations in the USA. The parallel scenes and characters are later harmonized in the story.

The story starts with a conversation of alien characters Egroeg and Suturb on their spacecraft. Their spacecraft with her crew on board had been commissioned from their planet Treretum on a mission to the earth mainly to find the progress of the species on the planet earth and the behavior of the “earthlings” (human beings). They collected data for their analysis from the data bank on an organizations on earth as they analyzed and discuss their finding.

Nivla, one of the aliens had a different mission beside their main mission which brought them to the earth. He wanted to retrieve the bodies of his brother and other aliens who were on board a spacecraft that crushed on the surface of the earth on another mission. His mission brought him to interaction with Olga, Gavilan, Dr. Welch and Sam who were specialist who were working in different government projects. Their contact and interaction came as a result of these characters were curious about the outer space and were having a different mindset from other government officers.

Nivla asked them of their assistance to retrieve his brother’s body and in return give them information of how to change the current status quo on hearth by use of advance technologies which are not currently on the planet earth. Their conversations are intertwined with issues and problems of the planet earth and the planet Treretum. They are also discussed various solutions and how the two planets can mutually benefit.

I am giving this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This is because the book is interesting and at the same time informative. I highly recommend people to read the book because it has a lot of information especially about cadmium poisoning.

The book has mixed themes which include sci-fi fantasies and fictional reality at the same time articulates facts about a health hazard – Cadmium poisoning. It has affected most of us without our knowledge or being highlighted by the health specialist. Personally, through the facts which have been highlighted by the author after every charter, I have gained a lot of knowledge about cadmium poisoning.

The only thing which I have disliked about the book is the shifting plot. The author has shifted the plot of the story severally making to book not easily understandable easily at first. But the author of this book has harmonized the different plots together towards the end of the book. Despite this, the book is enjoyable and it is worth reading.
