Beating Death: Doorways to The Universe by Sean O'Banion follows the story of Robert O'Banion as he undertakes the journey to confront the evil that has been against him and has been plaguing the country. The protagonist, Rob, is a man who is blessed with special powers; he has the ability to fly, and apart from that, his experiences tell you that he is not your average Joe. He has to go to Jackson City to fight against the evil that has its base there, but before he goes, there is a protection ritual that has to be done. Rob is not on this journey alone, as he has the privilege of having the three most powerful witches as his lovers and friends. His journey to Jackson City involves him taking a talisman to a certain Bob, as directed by his father. Rob gets to understand his role in the scheme of things and how his actions can help save the world from certain destruction.

The book depicts Rob traveling through a wormhole, where he visits different dimensions and meets different beings. He also meets the Creator of All and Scratch. It's a rollercoaster and promises to be exciting every step of the way. Rob has been called to a higher calling; he has a greater destiny to fulfill, and it is on this trip that he discovers it. Revelations come, and he understands some of the things that have happened to him and why his life turned out the way it did.

My favorite character in the novel is Robert O'Banion. What makes him my favorite character is his compassion to help others. Reading through his story from the recap and all through the book, I saw an empathetic man. He was ready to sacrifice, and he was always looking out for his friends and family.

It was a good novel; the author had a good story to tell, and I commend the author for such great and creative imagination. It's a book that incorporates fantasy, crime, science fiction, and religious philosophies. Combining all this to give a novel that's funny and exciting at the same time is commendable, and it is one of the reasons I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The author has a unique writing style that some may find hard to follow; it's fresh and has a very unique way of writing. It's not like your usual books on fantasy and magic. There is the use of slang, and just be ready to follow the author as he coins his phrases.

There is nothing I found unlikeable about the book. The book is exceptionally well edited. I recommend this book to lovers of science fiction, crime novels, conspiracy novels, magic, and fantasy novels. It's a book that contains several genres, thereby making it attractive to different types of people. I would not recommend this book to children, as its language is more suitable for adults.

The first novel offers an interesting blend of genres with magic, modern technologies, and bits of history with the inclusion of important themes. I see that this sequel continues with the same strong points, possibly even expanding them, making me interested in the whole series. Thank you for your great review!

"Beating Death: The story in “Doorways to The Universe” is an interesting combination of supernatural skills, a man or woman’s fight for survival, and realization of a new calling so it is an exciting continuation of Robert O’Banion.
