Aribeth, a Cambridge student, is plagued by dreams of violence and a beautiful man. She can't stop thinking about him, and then she spots him in the real world. If the man from her dreams is real, does that mean the violence is, too? On a class trip to Japan, Aribeth and her best friend, Marika, once again run into the man of Aribeth's dreams, Shinya, and the equally handsome Ken. The four of them must face dangers and evil that Aribeth never believed to be real. Will the destruction from Aribeth's dreams ring true, or will they be able to stop it in time? The Obsidian Dragon by Angel G.T. holds all the answers.

The attention to detail when describing specific details from the scene caught my attention. The scene of her falling asleep in class due to the dreams disrupting her sleep is an early example of small details that helped bring the book to life. This level of detail was also present when the lore and magic system were described. I also appreciated that a glossary of terms was provided at the end of the book. Since the majority of the novel took place in Japan, there were many words I was unfamiliar with.

The big issue with this book is the editing and writing style. The book contains many errors and desperately needs additional proofreading. With such an interesting premise, it is a shame the quality of the editing doesn't match. Additionally, the writing is lacking some details. While the magic system was beautifully described along with small details, the other descriptions felt generic. With the setting of Japan, I was excited to experience the culture and scenery. However, the background was often not described well. The character descriptions also did not feel fully fleshed out.

Overall, I rate this book 2 out of 5 stars. While I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, the issues with the writing and editing impacted my reading experience greatly. If this book were to be properly edited, it would be deserving of a higher rating, given the creativity behind the magical elements. Due to the explicit sexual content, this book is only suitable for adults. It would appeal to those who enjoy fantasy-romance novels.
