Galen, an orphan, embarks on a journey to a new life. His destination is Voulhire, a prosperous kingdom under King Wilhelm's rule. There, in the city of Magnum Caelum, awaits an unexpected inheritance – a forge left to him by his uncle. As Galen settles into his new role, guided by the helpful Rowan, strange occurrences begin to unfold. Mysterious stones appear, a powerful mage stirs, and whispers of a looming threat reach Galen's ears. Meanwhile, Lord Eldus, a former judge tasked with overseeing the troubled region of Magnum Caelum, investigates a decline in its fortunes. His inquiry takes a bizarre turn when he receives unsettling messages delivered through unusual stones. Unbeknownst to Galen, his own path intersects with these cryptic events. He and Rowan stumble upon rare stones during their search, mirroring those received by Lord Eldus. As these threads intertwine, a figure shrouded in secrecy – Meldorath – emerges, hinting at a grander plot that could reshape the very foundation of Voulhire. Galen, the unassuming newcomer, finds himself at the center of a brewing storm. His arrival in Magnum Caelum may hold the key to unraveling age-old conflicts and securing the future of the kingdom.

The book has a great plot, featuring a medieval setting that enhances the engaging story. The narrative is filled with tension and thrilling moments. Galen's role drives the plot, and I was thrilled to follow his journey, including the hurdles he faced, which signify both his accurate guesses and miscalculations about life's challenges. Rowan is another relatable character who shows love and support for Galen, helping him adapt to the land of Voulhire while serving as the executor of Galen's uncle's estate. The book also includes thrilling scenes, such as the dancing Riva Rohavi. Meldorath is a fascinating character who brings tension and mystery to the narrative.

I have no objective reason to rate this book less than full stars. I don't dislike anything about it, and it has been exceptionally well edited without any grammar errors. Hence, the book earns a rating of 5 out of 5 stars from me.

The book would be enjoyed by lovers of fantasy novels with an ancient-world setting.
