'Sent to Watch' is a boundary-breaking, thought-provoking, intricate interstellar adventure that seamlessly blends historical fiction with science fiction. The narrative transports readers to 18th-century England amidst the Napoleonic Wars and spans the vast expanse of the universe. Earth 48, a small and fairly undeveloped planet, is on the brink of joining the Confederation of Civilized Planets, a crucial step to safeguard against potentially devastating invasions. This Confederation comprises at least 51 other 'Earths,' with its administrative center on Earth 1 in the city of Tlat Mlang. Amidst wars, treaties, and galactic discoveries, the story primarily focuses on Earth 48 and the intertwined destinies of our protagonists, Ori and Unni.

The book's strong suit lies in its rich world-building and the intriguing concept of multiple Earths, each with its unique history and role within the Confederation. The inclusion of a comprehensive glossary at the beginning is a thoughtful touch, aiding readers in navigating the complex terminology and concepts introduced throughout the narrative. The portrayal of the rise and fall of various nations and continents mirrors our own history, drawing parallels to totalitarian regimes, nationalistic dictatorships, and ethnic cleansings, adding a layer of depth and realism to the story.

Ori and Unni, as part of the interplanetary intelligence network based in England, offer a compelling exploration of destiny and duty within this expansive universe. The storyline is well-developed, with interconnected events and characters contributing to a cohesive and satisfying plot. The book's unique names and terms may require some adjustment, but the glossary proves invaluable in this regard.

One of the notable merits of 'Sent to Watch' is its suitability for all ages. The absence of explicit sexual content, grisly gore, and profanity ensures that the book can be enjoyed by a wide audience. Additionally, the book's polished writing, free from grammatical errors, enhances the reading experience.

In conclusion, 'Sent to Watch' is an epic sci-fi adventure with a plausible and far-reaching concept. Its meticulous world-building, engaging plot, and accessible content make it a standout read. I would highly recommend it to fans of both historical fiction and science fiction.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This rating is well-deserved due to the book's engaging storyline, well-crafted universe, and suitability for readers of all ages, making it a remarkable addition to the sci-fi genre. The book is exceptionally well edited, as it does not contain any grammar mistakes. There is nothing that I found wrong with this book.
