I agree. It really feels like I was reading three separate novels and the jumps from one character to another make it especially difficult to follow the whole thing. The whole thing about The Stranger, the Doctors, and Eliza, were the sub plots that lost me several times.

I always love Tysz work. I also particularly dislike the pseudonyms that he used in this book. Lovely review.

My favorite thing about this book was how complex it became the farther along I read. In the beginning, the characters' stories seem to be separate, but it becomes clear later that everything is connected in one way or another. What seems like a simple post-apocalyptic story of how human nature prevails even in the darkest of times becomes a lot more complicated very quickly. That's what I love about this series. I plan on completing the rest, as well.
