"We are Voulhire: Matthew Tysz is a brilliant author, and here we have a magical, political, and rather personal tale known as “A New Arrival under Great Skies.” Galen Bray is the protagonist in the story who flees a war-ravaged land to start anew in the land of Voulhire. This is the arrival of the main protagonist in the story that unveils complicated relationships between the protagonist’s unbridled desire for power and the survival instincts of the human soul.

Matthew Tysz does great with setting up a large and yet rather intricate world with its history and culture to eagerly swallow the readers whole at the beginning of the book. The author writes in a very literary way but at the same time makes the concepts easy to understand in terms of the universe the novel takes place. The flow of the novel is carefully planned, and each chapter, which reveals the background of the story, is full of unexpected twists. Another successful aspect where Tysz managed to hold readers’ interest is the ability to create separate plotlines and character arcs.

The descriptions of the personalities of the characters in “We are Voulhire” are rather intricate. Galen, the main character, is quite complex and presented quite impressively; the process of his transformation from the rather unintelligent greenhorn to a more experienced man is quite realistic and motivating. The characterized side characters, the mysterious Lord Eldus, and the driven Meldorath contribute to the heightened plot, offering a glimpse into various layers of Voulhire’s setting.

On the possible merits of the book, one can list its treatment of issues, for example, power, ethical or moral aspects, and predestination. Tysz makes the exposition of such topics subtle and makes readers think about their personal views. There is no sexual content, and the profanity is sparse so that the audience does not get distracted from the show’s plot.

About the technical quality, it is worth saying that the book is rather free from such shortcomings as typographical mistakes or slips of grammar. All these features have a positive impact on the total effect and contribute to the enlargement of the space that engages the reader.

Overall, "We are Voulhire: The novel, A New Arrival under Great Skies, is one of the best fantasy novels, and the readers are in for a real treat. This is why I endorse this book to all fans of fantasy with the remarkable creation of the world and cast of characters. And this is why I award it 5 stars out of 5."
