We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an enchanting and intriguing start to a series that follows the journey of Galen, an immigrant, in the diverse and magical land of Voulhire. The novel brilliantly weaves together various storylines that delve into the complexities of the country's politics and the dark forces at play. At the heart of the tale is Lord Meldorath, a sinister mage who threatens the peace of Voulhire as Galen tries to find his place in this new world.

With the promise of a better future, Galen arrives in the mystical land of Voulhire to start afresh with the inheritance of his uncle's forge. As he embarks on this new chapter of his life, he quickly becomes aware of the intricate web of magic, politics, and conspiracies that bind the country together. Amidst the growing danger of the presumed-dead Meldorath's shadow and the rebel forces of Riva Rohavi on the rise, Voulhire finds itself on the brink of chaos, and Galen must navigate these treacherous waters with care.

One of the standout elements of the book, in my opinion, was the remarkable character development. From King Wilhelm, a ruler who exudes warmth yet possesses a sharp political mind, to the witty and charming Rowan, each character brought a unique and captivating depth to the story. Moreover, the author expertly maintained a suspenseful atmosphere throughout the narrative, introducing unexpected twists and turns that kept me hooked.

The skillful intertwining of different narratives was certainly one of the highlights of this book, adding a sense of cohesiveness to the story as the various threads culminated into a powerful and satisfying ending. The clarity and flow of the narrative were truly impressive. Nevertheless, the use of modern English by characters in a setting that was seemingly ancient and steeped in magic at times felt incongruous with the overall atmosphere, which did detract slightly from the immersive experience. Nonetheless, the story's complexity and the author's prowess in storytelling are truly notable.

To conclude, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a well-crafted, engaging read that skillfully combines magic, politics, and character-driven narratives, creating a compelling story that is likely to enthrall fans of both fantasy and science fiction. The overall richness of the story and the author's storytelling prowess make this book a recommended read. I, too, am eager to see how the series develops and where the story leads.

During my reading, I found no grammar or editing errors of any kind. The book was exceptionally edited, and I give credit to the author and editors of this great book. I had a minor dislike for the use of modern English, but it did not distract me from my overall experience. I give this book an outstanding 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy a rich blend of magic, politics, and character-driven stories in a captivating fantasy world.
