Matthew Tysz’s “We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” is a compelling introduction to a new fantasy series. This book immerses readers in the kingdom of Voulhire, a richly detailed world where magic, mystery, and history intertwine.

The story follows Galen Bray, a young man fleeing from his warring homeland for a new start in Voulhire. Upon arriving in Magnum Caelum, a city in Voulhire, he inherits all the fortunes his late uncle left for him. Read this amazing book to find out where Galen comes from, how the war in Galen’s homeland emerged, how he escaped his war-torn homeland, and his encounters upon arriving in Voulhire. The narrative also tracks other characters, like Lord Eldus, a nobleman unraveling the secrets of the enigmatic mage Meldorath. The author skillfully combines these views, creating a story with interesting characters and a setting rich in history and politics.

This book excels at depicting Voulhire’s landscapes and cultures, making them vividly relatable. The character development is a standout, with Galen shown as a striving, adaptable protagonist, while Lord Eldus embodies lawful goodness and a commitment to justice. The diverse characters, each on contrasting journeys, enrich the narrative with action, mystery, and self-discovery, creating an engaging and multifaceted read that holds your interest throughout. I enjoyed every bit of it.

The era of the setting Is uncertain, with elements of both medieval and Victorian aesthetics, potentially confusing readers like me. I don’t think that is enough to remove a star from this interesting read.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its perfect editing, with no noticeable spelling or grammatical errors. Beyond the flawless editing, I found it captivating for the reasons I've previously mentioned. I highly recommend this book to fans of epic fantasy and adventure, as it offers an engaging story with unfolding mysteries in Voulhire that will keep readers eagerly anticipating what comes next.

The fact that the book's use of humor adds to its enjoyment makes it sound like a fun read. It's good to know that the author paid attention to the speech patterns of each character, as this can make them more authentic and realistic.
