The book Impact by Mark D. Owen is a science fiction novel that explores the intricacies of space exploration and human ambition. The story centers around Tamarind Chase, a visionary leader of Dark Matter Ventures, who launches Project LightStar with the intent of clearing space debris and pioneering asteroid mining. This ambitious project is kept a secret, with only a select few aware of its true purpose.
The plot thickens as Jake, a journalist, investigates Tamarind and his projects. Jake's curiosity leads him to uncover discrepancies in the official story, suspecting that there's more to Tamarind's project than meets the eye. The narrative intertwines Tamarind's professional and personal struggles, revealing his deep-seated passion for space exploration and the sacrifices he's willing to make for his vision.

One of the most likable aspects of the book is its rich character development. The author masterfully crafts multidimensional characters, particularly those of the main character, Tamarind. His internal conflict and unwavering determination add a human touch to the high-stakes world of space technology. The detailed descriptions of the technological innovations and the challenges of space mining provide a realistic backdrop that immerses the reader in the futuristic setting. The author evidently put in a lot of imaginative and creative work into writing the book, and I feel that this is one of those science fiction novels that can be adapted into a really good movie.
Another commendable feature of the book is its pacing and suspense. The plot unfolds with a perfect balance of action and introspection, keeping readers engaged from start to finish.

There was nothing to dislike about the book. The plot was excellent, and the author's storytelling was superb. There was also hardly any profanity in the book, which I believe will make it suitable to read for a lot of people. The book was exceptionally well edited, as I did not come across any errors while reading it. Hence, I'll be rating it 5 out of 5 stars

In conclusion, I'll recommend this book to fans of science fiction and techno-thrillers. Fans of mystery novels will also find this book to be a good read.
