The book In the Heart of the Linden Woods by Ekta R. Garg is a fictional masterpiece that centers on the mighty Kingdom of Linden; it's magical woods, and it's king, Christopher. Christopher recently assumed the throne after the ruthless reign of his father, the evil King Vincent. Seeking to move on from the memories of his father's reign, he finds solace in the love of his life, Queen Lily. But tragedy comes knocking, as he loses her to death during childbirth along with the child. The once joyous King Christopher is thrown into mourning and grief. A new crisis soon emerges as the once vibrant magical Linden Woods that sustains the kingdom starts losing its magic and begins to die off and wilter. Despite being in mourning, King Christopher sets off on a quest with a group of companions to restore the trees in the magical woods of Linden.

There are a lot of things to like about the book. Most notable for me was the brilliant character development by the author, especially that of the main character, King Christopher. The various changes and emotions he had to experience from the time when his tyrant father was king to the death of his wife and child and his quest to save the magical woods that sustain his kingdom while also saving himself from his state of grief—all these make his character very likable, relatable, and evoke a lot of emotions in the reader. The author also put the right amount of detail, creativity, and description into the book, making it seem quite realistic despite being a fantasy.

I didn't find much to dislike about the book. The storyline, despite being quite interesting, didn't offer much of anything new in the world of fantasy, and the ending was quite predictable. Notwithstanding, I enjoyed reading the book, as the author's storytelling was top-notch. The book was also exceptionally well edited, as I didn't come across any errors while reading it. Hence, I'll be rating it 5 out of 5 stars.

I'll recommend this book to people who love reading emotion-filled fantasy novels. People who love reading magic-themed novels will also enjoy reading this book.
