In the Heart of the Linden Wood by Ekta R. Garg is a fantasy novel that tells the story of the magical woods of the kingdom of Linden and its king, Christopher. The kingdom of Linden has just come out of the wicked rule of King Vincent, Christopher's late father, and Christopher was determined to fix all his father's mistakes, as he himself was also at the receiving end of his father's rule. All was going well as he got married to the love of his life, Queen Lily, but everything suddenly began to go downhill when she died during childbirth along with the child. More bad news rolls in as the magical woods of Linden, which supported the kingdom, begin to die off and wither due to an unknown disease. The grieving king must overcome his grief and mourning over his dead wife and child and embark on an adventure to restore the woods of Linden while also maintaining proper rule of the kingdom among citizens who seem to be losing faith and respect in the monarchy.

There are a lot of positives about the book. The most remarkable is the rich character development of the various characters. Each of the characters undergoes a transformative change, especially the character of King Vincent, and the author was able to pass on very emotional messages that explore various aspects of human life and relationships through each of the characters, which made them very relatable. One could easily describe the novel as "emotion-driven." The author's vivid depiction and description of various scenarios in the novel are also notable. This is one of those fantasy novels whose story I feel would make a good Disney animated movie.

There is very little to dislike about the book. The pace of the story is a bit slow, and the plot seems like that of every other usual fantasy novel. However, the author's attention to detail and very descriptive story-telling make up for these shortcomings. Also, the book was exceptionally well edited, as I didn't come across any errors while reading it. Hence, I will be rating it 5 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book, and I will recommend it to people who love reading fantasy novels, especially those that evoke a lot of emotions.
