In the gripping dystopian novel Terms of Service: Subject to change without notice, originally created by Craig W. Stanfill himself, it visually paints a picture of the future in which artificial intelligence and technology rule over humanity. One group of rebels who disagree with this hegemony is the selfists, a comparatively small group, who ends up suffering the consequences. This is the story of Kim, a young, intelligent, hardworking software developer who works in the sphere of AI and learns the art of climbing the career ladder. Kim, the show’s protagonist, who at first is a devoted fan of the artificial intelligence she created, slowly opens her eyes and realizes the grim reality of the monstrous system she has built and is now a part of. Breaking free from the set ideals of society, Kim rises up with passionate defiance against the all-powerful AI to reclaim her freedom and the liveliness for humanity in a world on the verge of complete takeover by the machines.

Imagine a future where the lines between progress and oppression are blurred and the sanctity of individual freedom hangs by a thread. As Kim's quest for self-discovery becomes a beacon of hope in a world suffocated by AI, her journey sparks a searing examination of what it means to be human. With its razor-sharp prose, breakneck pacing, and unsettling prescient themes, this book is an unmissable read for anyone who's ever wondered if the price of progress is too high to pay.

I was truly fascinated by how the book portrays a perfect world where economic differences have been eradicated and everyone enjoys the same rights and opportunities in any given society, irrespective of gender, color, or origin. In the entire book, there is nothing I can recall that I disliked. Another area that deserves commendation is the author’s commitment to professionalism in the writing: there is no trace of errors, and the work itself is polished to a fine sheen. Without any doubts, I can recommend this book to anybody who wants to know more about possibilities and risks connected with new technologies, and, therefore, I give it a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars.
