Wow! You've not read a good series yet if you've not read the "We Are Voulhire" series. I've just finished the first installment, "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies," and I don't see myself stopping. Set in the land of Voulhire, a place rich in history, magic, and political intrigue, this book is a captivating read! Voulhire is a land recovering from past traumas, like the reign of the tyrannical Lord Orlin and the powerful, enigmatic Lord Meldorath. It is such a background that makes King Wilhelm, the current overall king, have a daunting task of maintaining stability while dealing with threats from both internal and external forces, including the insurgent group known as the Riva Rohavi. On the other hand, Galen Bray, fleeing the war-torn Lands of the Princes, seeks refuge and a fresh start in the same Voulhire, in the relatively peaceful town of Magnum Caelum. That peace, however, hangs in the balance, considering the recent developments in Voulhire. Galen, however, goes ahead to start a new life, inheriting his late uncle's trade of blacksmithing with the help of Rowan, his late uncle's executor. He is constantly haunted by his own internal conflicts, struggling with the trauma of his past while trying to forge a new identity. Unknown to him, he will have an important role to play in the now-shifting landscape of Voulhire.

The characters in this story are richly constructed, each with his or her own distinctive role. They all have their own conflicts and crises to deal with, and they all have their fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Lord Eldus Alderman, for example, in his mission to restore Hillport, meets a town scarred by the brutal reigns of previous lords. His efforts to rebuild the town and heal its people are constantly undermined by the lingering influence of Lord Meldorath and the looming threat of the Riva Rohavi. You might be tempted to think that King Wilhelm, being one of the royals, has it easy. Brace yourself! He too has to decide over difficult immigration policies, deal with the threat posed by the Riva Rohavi, and the manipulations of his chancellor, Maido.

This book is an engaging and richly detailed novel, and the author excels in creating a very captivating and enjoyable reading experience. The book's ability to balance intense, large-scale conflicts with intimate, character-driven stories seems to be its strong point, making me rate it 5 out of 5 stars. It lacks any obvious negative aspects, and it has been exceptionally well edited. I highly recommend this series.
