We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a science fiction novel that introduces readers to the world of Voulhire, a great nation on the brink of significant challenges. The story centers on Galen Bray, a young man who has lived through two decades of civil war in the neighboring land of the princes. The conflict began when Galen was just eight years old and has shaped much of his life. Galen's fortunes change when his grand uncle, who is on his deathbed, leaves him an unexpected inheritance in Voulhire. This inheritance includes property and a chance to leave the turmoil of his homeland behind. Without hesitation, Galen decides to take this opportunity, eager to escape the violence and start afresh. Upon arriving in Voulhire, specifically in the peaceful district of Magnum Caelum, Galen is struck by the tranquility and order of his new surroundings. Unlike the war-torn land of the princes, Magnum Caelum offers him a serene environment, making Galen hopeful for a fresh start. However, as he begins to settle into his new life, he becomes aware that Voulhire, too, faces its own set of challenges and uncertainties.

The author captivates readers by switching narrators, allowing them to see Voulhire through different perspectives. Through Galen Bray's eyes, the land is new and fascinating. He’s unaware of the darker sides of Magnum Caelum, making his discoveries feel fresh and exciting. This innocent viewpoint brings a sense of wonder to the story. In contrast, Lord Eldus provides a seasoned perspective. Familiar with Voulhire's political intricacies and corruption, his narrative reveals the more complex and sometimes darker aspects of the land. His experience adds depth and a more critical lens, offering a realistic view of the challenges in places like Hillport. The alternating viewpoints enrich the narrative, providing a balanced look at Voulhire's beauty and flaws. This technique keeps the story engaging and ensures readers gain a comprehensive understanding of the world Tysz has created.

This book was exceptionally well-edited without errors. I therefore give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This book would be ideal for readers who enjoy fantasy novels with rich world-building and multiple perspectives.
