Velocious Evolution by Ron Saetermoe is an emotional and science-fiction novel that revolves around Dr. Steven Keene, a lecturer at the University of Berkeley in the US. Dr. Keene is grappling with his daughter, Leslie’s terminal illness, who is suffering from the cancer, that claimed her mother’s life, years ago. When despair seems insurmountable, Dr. Keene meets an alien, Dr. Lewis otherwise called Tic, who offers groundbreaking medical technology to cure his daughter’s cancer in exchange for some water from Earth for his planet Kepler 186-e. Tic introduces Keene to Saviour, the machine that would heal his daughter, and offer cancer treatment across the globe.
Velocious Evolution is a book depicting what lengths a person would go to save their loved ones. Keene has nothing to lose as his daughter is dying anyway, and chooses to approach a stranger that promises some miraculous treatment that could cure her permanently. The book is also deeply moving, capturing the reader’s empathy as Keene embarks on an exciting journey to discover what interstellar beings can offer. The interaction between Keene and Tic is well-crafted, showcasing human desperation and the potential kindness of extraterrestrial beings.
The book harbors an imaginative and vivid description of Kepler 186-e and its technology makes it extra appealing. The author did an awesome job, with his originality made the book a page-turner, and ability to make it engaging from the beginning to the end. The ability of the author to blend intense emotional moments with the excitement of scientific discovery leaves the reader with a lasting impression. I found the book to have no drawbacks or negative aspects.
The book has been professionally edited as I barely noticed any grammatical errors or typos, which gives this book a rating of five out of five. The book was worth the read, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a moving and unique story about technology or extraterrestrial-based books.
