"We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz is the first installment in a captivating fantasy series. The story centers on Galen Bray, who escapes from the war-ravaged Lands of the Princes to inherit his late uncle’s estate in Voulhire. As Galen arrives in Magnum Caelum, he faces the challenges of his new life and uncovers the hidden dangers of his new home. The plot thickens with the complex history of Voulhire, the troubled past of its leaders, and the menacing threat posed by the Riva Rohavi and the mage Meldorath.

I was particularly impressed with how Tysz developed the world of Voulhire. The detailed map and glossary provided in the book were incredibly helpful in navigating the complex setting and understanding the myriad of characters and locations. The way Tysz introduces characters and places methodically makes the narrative accessible and engaging. The intricate descriptions and character developments kept me hooked, and I found the magical elements particularly intriguing.

On the downside, the pacing of the book slowed down significantly in the middle, which detracted from the overall momentum of the story. Additionally, while the glossary was useful, it occasionally interrupted the reading flow as I had to flip back and forth frequently. However, these issues did not significantly diminish my enjoyment of the book.

Despite these minor issues, "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies" is an excellent read. The book is flawlessly edited, with no grammatical errors or typos to distract from the immersive experience. Tysz’s attention to detail extends to the editing process, enhancing the overall quality of the book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It's a highly recommended read for fans of fantasy who enjoy well-developed worlds, strong character arcs, and engaging plots. However, due to the mature themes and graphic content, it's best suited for readers 18 and older. This series opener sets the stage for an intriguing continuation, and I eagerly anticipate the next installment.
