We're Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great by Matthew Tysz is an amazing fantasy novel that introduces readers to the Kingdom of Voulhire. The capital city of Voulhire is Soulhire, where King Wilhelm resides. The main character in the novel is Galen. Galen moves from the Land of Princess, which is known for war, to the Kingdom of Voulhire, seeking a fresh start after losing his family. Voulhire is a land of magic and political intrigue. The story dwells into a complex political landscape, talking about conflicts and power struggles between various factions. As the story flows, we learn that magic plays a central role in the story as it influences the plot and character development with various magical elements. Galen has no awareness of the dark history of Voulhire.
On his arrival, he meets Rowan, who helps him to settle and to inherit his uncle's property. He starts to learn about Voulhire's political instability and corruption. His arrival in Voulhire coincides with increasing tension and threats. When he is getting to familiarise himself with the new environment, he gets involved in the conflicts of the kingdom. We also get to learn the consequences the Kingdom of Voulhire went through of declining from a once thriving kingdom to one facing significant turmoil and instability.
The story has different characters. We came to learn about Emporer Lullabies, who had gifted his four sons islands in the southern part of Voulhire because he feared being killed by his own sons who wanted to take his throne. We also come to learn about Eldus Alderma, former judge and new lord of Hillport, whose aim is to bring the rural southern town down to its true potential. The story captures a lot. We also came to learn about personal growth through Galen's story as he struggles to adapt to his new environment in Voulhire.
I really enjoyed this fantasy read, to the extent that I found myself fantasising in the land of Voulhire. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy stories. This is an amazing novel. I did not find anything to dislike about the book. Also during my reading, I did not find any errors. The book was practically well edited, so without any doubt, the book deserves 5 out of 5 stars.
