The first book in the series, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival beneath Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, explores a fictitious universe where an expansive monarchy in a country called Voulhire is ruled by a king named Wilhelm. Meanwhile, a cruel king governs neighboring territories, and in an attempt to prevent his four sons from plotting against him, he divides them. This division sparks a conflict among the princes that lasts for more than two decades.

Galen Bray is one of the many people who flee these war-torn countries and makes his way to Voulhire. He travels to Magnum Caelum, a tiny village in Voulhire that was once home to his late uncle. Galen's uncle left him a house and a blacksmith business. Galen had not anticipated the unexpected challenges awaiting him in Voulhire, as the place is rife with secrets and issues.

Tysz's carefully constructed world in this series seems to be tripartite, encompassing the three domains of spirituality, science, and imagination that he considers essential to the development of human civilization. The magical realm that eludes us is the world of fantasies or Caromentis. What we refer to as the cosmos governed by the principles of physics is the physical world or Cosmos. The cosmos that Tysz reveals in this book is called Cosmos.

I like this book for many reasons, including Rowan's great sense of humor and his patience with Galen as he adapts to his new surroundings. King Wilhelm was my favorite character because he embodies what it means to be a leader, showing no partiality or weakness in judgment. The character development that Matthew achieves is intriguing, and he ensures you notice any changes in the setting by providing subtle cues when they occur. The book is also easy to read due to Matthew's approach of introducing each character on a separate page.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. Due to its captivating subject matter, the author's superb writing style, and professional editing, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you're a fantasy reader searching for a compelling series, I highly recommend this book. With all the enchantment it offers, I have no doubt that many readers will adore it.
