Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
5 out of 5 stars.
The first part of Matthew Tysz’s fantasy series, “We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” follows the story of Galen; a young man who is escaping war-torn lands for a new beginning in the kingdom of Voulhire. When his uncle passes on and leaves him with a forge, his life takes a complicated twist as he discovers dark secrets about this realm hidden within the peaceful town of Magnum Caelum where he has just started afresh. "In Voulhire, the realms of magic and politics converge, presenting challenges from within and beyond its borders." The narrative is presented through various characters including an amiable king struggling to maintain law and order and a menacing fearful wizard whose presence lingers on after him. This book paves the way for a grand saga that amalgamates political drama with fantasy. This novel provides an intriguing plot, complex characters, and a richly detailed world that make it worthy of 5 stars.
One important thing about this book is how many different stories it tells at once. It is written from various perspectives such as Galen (a young newcomer to Voulhire), King Wilhelm (his efforts to restore peace in the divided kingdom), and Lord Eldus (a ruler with strong principles who finally discovers some disturbing facts). Through this technique, not only do we see the development of the world but also understand better what challenges are facing Voulhire hence making the plot more exciting.
Tysz employs descriptive language that creates visual images about landscapes found in Voulhire, cities’ settlement patterns as well as intricate social hierarchies governing them. The story moves at the right pace: it has enough actions that can keep readers afraid whereas there are moments when they can reflect on themselves or the characters involved. The reader remains hooked throughout because these two features within one single text never slow down the progress of the narration.
Furthermore, themes addressed such as power, ethics, and consequences of individual choices are delicately treated. These themes add depth to the story thereby making readers look with a critical eye on the world of Voulhire and therefore, our world.
However, it could be noted that “We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” is an engaging beginning for a fantasy series though it’s overwhelming in terms of its world-building and multiple points of view. Moreover, some parts of the plot remain unanswered creating more inquiries rather than giving solutions. Nonetheless, these areas do not diminish the overall quality of the novel thus justifying its 5-star rating.
The book editing is superb I did not find any errors or mistakes book is awesome and deserves a 5-star rating.
In conclusion, “We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” should receive a 5-star rating for an elaborate storyline, vivid heroes as well an immersive setting that promises even bigger adventures soon. It will capture the interest of anyone who loves fantasy literature mixed with political intrigue and supernatural beings.
