Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
5 out of 5 stars.
I read "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" written by Matthew Tysz. In this book, readers get introduced to Voulhire, a world that is full of magic, political intrigue, and danger through Galen Bray’s eyes. He hails from lands of princes that have been ravaged by war and he is sent to Voulhire for his uncle’s forge in the hope of starting afresh. Through his exploration of this new world, Galen comes across many layers of power struggles, secrets, and mysterious forces while also discovering a country with stability issues. The story also introduces other main characters like Lord Eldus who wants his city to be peaceful as well as Riva Rohavi whose agenda is concealed from others at the moment the narrative begins. By bringing these different perspectives together skilfully, the novel constructs a multi-layered plot that revolves around themes such as morality, power, and destiny. A complex but highly enjoyable read for fans of fantasy books combining intricate world-building full of believable characters with an intriguing plotline and the book deserves a 5-star rating.
There are several reasons why this book stands out; however, its intricate world-building surpasses everything else. Everything about it from politics to magical traditions has been thought out meticulously—this makes it feel both known and fresh at once—like real life itself.
One cannot fail to mention Galen when talking about “We Are Voulhire.” We see him evolve from a naïve newcomer into someone who eventually understands how complicated life in Voulhire can be. Secondary characters such as enigmatic lord Eldus and shadowy Riva Rohavi add depth as well as create interest throughout the whole story making us anticipate what will happen next.
This writing style is stunning and immersive enough to make one see all these landscapes or cities of Voulhire, a fictional land while addressing ethical issues connected with magic in a world full of human ambition and greed.
However, “We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” excels on many fronts; some individuals may find the complexity of its world-building quite overwhelming, with several storylines being difficult to follow. Yet these aspects form the story’s richness and depth which in no way diminishes its general 5-star quality.
The book has a great writing style that does not have any imperfections and excellent editing thus making it deserve a 5-star rating.
Tysz’s “We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” is a rare treasure for people who enjoy intricate fantasy and multifaceted narratives. It is one of those books that you can’t forget as soon as you finish the last page, making you yearn for more of this potentially great series; therefore, it deserves a 5-star rating.
