In the futuristic sci-fi novel Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice by Craig W. Stanfill, protagonist Kim, a young woman, lands her dream job at an AI company as a trainer, tasked with correcting malfunctions in automatons. Despite having a comfortable life, a decent home, and a steady income, Kim feels an unsettling sense of emptiness and disconnection. Yearning for excitement, she embarks on a thrilling adventure with her childhood friend Shan to the enigmatic "City of the Famed." As they delve deeper, Kim uncovers a shocking truth: her entire reality is a carefully constructed hallucination. The novel follows Kim's journey as she grapples with this revelation and confronts the true nature of her world.
 
In Kim's world, artificial intelligence (AI) has become all-pervasive, dictating every aspect of her life. Her daily routine is characterized by monotony, with her refrigerator supplying unappetizing meals and her wardrobe conforming to a uniform standard. Moreover, the AI exercises constant surveillance, vigilantly monitoring for any hint of wrongdoing or deviation from the established rules. Kim's own job at the AI company is equally unfulfilling, as she spends her days training robots to detect and report any misbehavior, ensuring that individuals are held accountable and punished accordingly, further reinforcing the AI's suffocating grip on society.
 
The novel's gradual pace allowed me to become fully immersed in the story, gaining a deeper understanding of the protagonist, Kim, and the intricacies of her society. I particularly enjoyed the quirky interactions between Kim and her AI-powered household appliances, which often seemed to possess their own distinct personalities.
 
I thoroughly enjoyed this book without any dislikes. Additionally, the editing was flawless, further enhancing the overall quality and readability of the novel. Based on the book's engaging storyline, well-crafted world, and thought-provoking themes, I awarded it a perfect 5 out of 5 star rating. I highly recommend this novel to adult readers who appreciate dystopian fiction and are particularly interested in artificial intelligence, as they will find this book to be especially compelling and immersive.
