Book- We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz

Rating:- 5/5

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, this is the first in a series of fantasy books that lay down the premise for an epic journey through the varied & multifaceted world of Voulhire. This work deftly melds fantasy with intrigue and adventure to create a dense, immersive experience for readers.

It is a story of a young man named Galen Bray, who seeks a better life in the kingdom of Voulhire. On his initiative to move to this country for obvious reasons, Galen realizes that with all the beauty in the front, this nation is really heading towards chaos. Voulhire is a country full of magic and mystery, but also a place where dark powers and political tensions threaten to unravel the seams of society.

The worldbuilding is definitely one of the strengths of this book. Tysz has really fleshed out a vivid, elaborate world with history, culture, and social structure. The depictions of the cities, landscapes, and magic systems in Voulhire are really well done; sometimes it is very easy to fall into the setting. The author's attention to detail gives life to the world of Voulhire and hence makes it almost a character in its own right.

Another great part of We are Voulhire would be its characters. Galen is such an easy character to sympathize with and to actually like, and his pathway of discovery fascinatingly follows through with that. On his side, with Galen, there are other characters, each creating different personalities and motivations that go into their actions. The interactions between them brought a new dimension to the story and gave realism to the setting, it's fantasy, but really not.

The plot of the book is very well rounded, and there is a nice balance between action, character development and world-building. Political intrigue and looming threats in Voulhire keep the tension high and the reader invested in the story. There's enough in the way of twists and turns to keep readers interested, even though this is really an introductory book to the series and therefore doesn't really tie up all the loose ends but just leaves the reader in wonder as to what's gonna happen next.

The only slight negative would be that many questions were left unanswered, clearly to be the first part of a larger story. To some, the ending might seem a bit abrupt, although this also helps build up anticipation for the next installment.

Overall, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a great beginning for what has proven to be an exciting read and a thought-provoking series. Matthew Tysz has created a really interesting world that abounds with magic, mystery, and intrigue, capturing the heart of every fantasy lover.

I’ll recommend this book and give 5/5, it is an engrossing and skillfully constructed new fantasy series starter, with deep world-building, compelling characters, and riveting plot. Any epic fantasy reader or fan of intricate plotlines definitely has to read this.
