Review of 2084
In 2043, the WPA (World Peace Authority ) implemented the practice of neutering infants after the advent of the Artificial Pregnancy Pod (APP). Natural birth became illegal in 2050 because the products of APP were successful. This new world created by the WPA was not pleasant to the Naturalist Terrorist Organization (NatOrg). If the WPA faltered in its duties, it would likely result in the mass suicide of Models and Treats, which has happened before. NatOrg didn't like the way the WPA was running the world and planned to defeat them. Will they succeed at this?
2084 by Kadon Landon Peterson is a futuristic book, one that looks at what our future will likely be like with the advancement of science, genetics, robotics, and world organizations. Some organizations want a unified currency, world peace, and many other things. But that is what they tell us. Who knows their hidden agendas? Who knows what other agendas come up when absolute power is given to one organization? It made me think of the way organizations metamorphosized from a good nature to one that wants to be all-powerful and never be put down.
I love that this book looked into technology, the ultimate good, religion, evolution, reproduction, survival of species, vice and virtue, etc. It is fast-paced, and I appreciate this about it. It amazes me what we humans can accomplish with our minds and our work, starting with how the author's imagination came up with this wonderful book. This book totally blew my mind and amazed me in many ways! I saw things I couldn't have imagined ordinarily, like growing a meat wall. I honestly need to read other books in the series to catch up because I so much enjoyed this one.
What I disliked about this book is that it was hard to know the particular year that was currently in play. I constantly didn't know if it was the 2030s, 2060s, or even 2080s. It was confusing, but I still rate the book 5 out of 5 stars regardless because it is a minor negative aspect. I recommend this book to those who have studied biology or chemistry. Everything done, like the growth of organisms, mitosis, evolution, mating, etc., will be interesting to them, and they will understand it well. The book is openly vulgar and has many sexual undertones and acts of violence. If this triggers you, then this book may not be for you. The book was also exceptionally well-edited.
