"We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz introduces readers to a richly imagined world, filled with complex characters and a deep sense of history. The story begins with Galen Bray, a young man escaping the turmoil of his homeland, the Land of the Princes, to seek a new life in Voulhire. His journey takes him to Magnum Caelum, where he inherits his late uncle's blacksmith forge. Galen’s arrival in Voulhire is only the beginning of his adventure, as he soon discovers that this kingdom is a land of both opportunity and danger, where magic and mystery intertwine with the lives of its people.

One of the most captivating aspects of this novel is the world-building. The author crafts the book with an impressive attention to detail, presenting a kingdom that feels both expansive and intimate. The political and social dynamics of the book are intriguing, and the author does an excellent job of gradually revealing the complexities of this world through the eyes of Galen and other characters. The contrast between Galen’s humble beginnings and the grandeur of the book highlights the stark differences between his old life and the new possibilities that await him.

I like the way the author develops his characters. Galen’s journey of self-discovery is compelling, and his growth throughout the novel is well-paced. The author’s ability to weave together multiple plotlines without losing focus on the main narrative is commendable. The inclusion of magic and the supernatural adds an exciting layer to the story, making it a truly immersive experience.

I found nothing to dislike in this book. The pacing is steady, and the various elements of the story are well balanced. Every chapter adds something new and keeps the reader engaged.

This book was flawlessly edited, as I did not notice any grammatical or typographical errors. It is clear that a great deal of care was taken in both the writing and editing processes, which made for a smooth and enjoyable reading experience.

Overall, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because the novel is an excellent introduction to what promises to be an epic fantasy series. I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy detailed world-building, complex characters, and a mix of magic and political intrigue.
