Called upon by the Diodati Institute to investigate strange happenings, Serjeant Charles Grey is under the icy stare of his vampire boss, Mistress Aiyana. What Grey uncovers is a plot that has eluded both human police and vampire authorities: thefts and terrorist activities. But there's so much more to it than he thought in the first place.

Grey embarks on his journey aided by a perceptive mysterious cadet named Serafina and some twists to the story involving his own brother Edward, who is heading a rebellion against their vampire overlords. As Grey learns what's really going on about himself and the horrific reality of vampire domination, he has to lie his way through danger at every turn. Power and defiance—these are just two themes this book covers.

The way Charles and Edward interact is really interesting. I like that there is a change in Edward because in the beginning he was Charles' kind brother, and now he is the scary leader of the Sons of Man. It is a very emotional plot because being loyal to his ruthless brother and staying true to the Elite’s beliefs are some of the biggest struggles that Charles will encounter. I especially like the dynamic of Charles and Sesafina Ginevra, as it shows how their relationship is built on trust and is full of unknowns, which brings a realness to the storyline and heightens the tension. There is just so much to like about No Truce With The Vampires by Martyn Rhys Vaughan, honestly.

I found nothing that I disliked about this book. The characters are well-developed, and the story is enjoyable to read. The great combination of science fiction, horror, and suspense blended the storyline in such a way that it came out great. It is well-paced and will ensure that the reader actually cares about all of these characters. All the topics were deep, so my mind never shut off.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars because the characters are good, science fiction, horror, and suspense are done well, and they do not go on too long. Power and defiance are being looked at from a lot of angles, so there is still more to puzzle over. I recommend this book to dystopia, suspense fans, and those who love well-characterized, explored and thriller tales. The book was exceptionally well edited and error-free.
