Matthew Tysz’s "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies" takes readers on a thrilling journey through a vividly imagined fantasy world. The story follows Galen, a young man from a grim and oppressive land who inherits his uncle's forge in the kingdom of Voulhire. His arrival in Voulhire marks the beginning of a transformative adventure that introduces him to a realm of magic, political intrigue, and dark threats. From the start, Galen's transition from his bleak past to the vibrant and troubled Voulhire is engaging. His friendship with Rowan, the executor of his uncle's estate, is both heartwarming and essential, providing a sense of stability as Galen navigates his new life. The unfolding threats from Meldorath, a powerful and vengeful mage, and the shadowy Riva Rohavi group create a tense backdrop that drives the story forward.
 
The characters in this novel are well developed. Galen's journey from a humble blacksmith to a key player in Voulhire’s fate is portrayed with authenticity and depth. His character growth is one of the book's highlights, showcasing his determination and moral integrity. Eldus, another key figure, stands out for his genuine concern for the people he serves, adding a layer of emotional resonance to the story. The secondary characters are also well-crafted, each contributing to the plot. One minor critique might be the book's large cast of characters, which can occasionally be overwhelming. However, as the story progresses, the importance of each character becomes clearer, enhancing the overall narrative. The cover design, while not directly related to the story’s content, might not fully capture the book’s adventurous spirit, but this is a minor issue compared to the book’s strengths. This book was devoid of errors and had excellent editing.
 
This is a captivating fantasy novel that combines a compelling plot with well-drawn characters and a richly detailed world. It’s a must-read for fans of fantasy who enjoy world-building and thrilling adventures. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive and exciting fantasy experience.
