Review of Lann Dàn – Blades of Destiny
Lann Dàn – Blades of Destiny by James Raquepau is a heart-wrenching tale of loyalty, duty, and family involving a young heroine faced with an impossible task and choice. In the land of Erin, dotted by multitudes of settlements, there exists a Dreadlord called Hakon Skadi. Hakon terrorizes all the settlements in Erin and rules them in fear. He is fond of raiding any settlement that fails to comply with his rules and laws. Not only did he raid them, but he also raped their women and killed their men. Thus, it can be said that many of his seeds were scattered across the land of Erin. A prophecy revealed that a destroyer is coming to put an end to his misrule, and this destroyer is one of his numerous seeds. He set forth to wipe out this destroyer by sending soldiers to find, capture, or kill (if necessary) anybody with his unique features—white hair and blue eyes. Will this destroyer be found?
Lann Dàn – Blades of Destiny is an enthralling read that captivated me from start to finish. The author’s mesmerizing writing style and thrilling twists drew me in, and I became fully immersed in the world of the story. I must also commend the author’s masterful use of chronological storytelling that expertly builds tension, revealing the dark legacy of the Dreaded Lord and the protagonist’s destiny. The characters, settings, and actions are so vividly described in a way that makes it easy to visualize them in the reader’s mind.
However, I found a fault with the book. The occasional use of foreign languages sometimes disrupts the flow. I would have preferred that the author include a footnote on each page explaining these foreign languages. This would have made it easy for readers to fully understand them as they read the book.
I will give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The plot was properly developed. The book is a masterful piece with flawless pacing, pulse-pounding actions, and stunning twists. I could not find any errors while reading, so the book was well-edited. Aside from the main content of the book, the map, language guide, and glossary are important additions that massively improve the quality of the book. The fault mentioned above is not enough to deduct a star.
I would recommend this book to readers who love reading action thrillers and adventure stories. Readers who enjoy reading stories with strong female protagonists will find the book interesting.
