Review of Infinity
Catalina DuBois's novel Infinity: A Crown of Golden Leaves is a romance. Eris has placed a curse on Matthaios and Sara, who are starcrossed lovers, so that they will continue to live their lives over and over again. However, the problem with Matthaios and Sara in this life is that Matthaios is a prince and Sara is a slave. The second issue was that Matthaios' father was a cruel king who desired for Matthaios to wed a princess named Andromeda for power, while the lovely Sara was expected to slay Matthaios' father.
The narrative was told from the third person, and it continued switching between the perspectives of various characters at random, even when they were not in the same location. This may perplex the reader, requiring them to reread certain portions to discern the conveyed point of view. In certain areas, the characters did not appear to be fully developed, and the dialogue did not appear to be very natural at times. Some of the scenes that were packed with action were also summarized, and it seemed like it was rushed. Additionally, the author provided photographs at the beginning of each chapter, which painted a picture of the historical era in which the characters lived.
Despite the fact that the styles described above were ones that I personally did not favor, the tale and the way the plot twists were executed made up for it. The issues I mentioned may not concern some people, but if they decide to read this book, I would recommend it because the story captivated me and the twists kept me on the edge of my seat. This book succeeded in capturing my attention from the very first page, which is something that happens very rarely for me. The fact that the author included illustrations of the characters at the beginning of each chapter was another thing that I appreciated.
I give this book four out of five stars. One point was subtracted from my rating because of the issues I described earlier; nevertheless, the positive aspects of the tale overshadowed the negative aspects, which is why I gave it such a high rating. When it comes to romance novels, I absolutely adore it when a story is so well developed. The plot twists had me fascinated, and the pictures were an added bonus to the story. There were only a few mistakes that I discovered, which leads me to believe that it was edited by an expert.
I recommend this book to readers who want historical romance and action with a dash of fantasy that will leave them wanting more.
