Superhighway by Alex Fayman, is a Sci-Fi novel about Alexander Fine, a teenage boy, with incredible abilities. The novel explores Alex’s life before, and after he discovers his ability to travel via the internet. Alex is an orphan who had spent most of his life in an orphanage, with hopes of using his intellect to change his present and future. He was about to start college when he stumbled on his ability. This discovery changed his life forever, for better and for worse.
Having the ability to travel anywhere in the world in seconds, manipulate archived data, and downloading entire databases, made him a very powerful individual. It was great to see, that even with such resources available to him, his character did not change for the worse. He used his abilities for many things, including but not limited to taking wealth from crime kingpins and redistributing it. As with human nature, we are prone to making mistakes, and Alex made some mistakes that led to very interesting, yet dangerous outcomes.
The storytelling was very different in that it didn’t feel as if there was a set goal to achieve. It just felt as if I was seeing someone discover himself, and creating his journey in real-time. I quite enjoyed the way the storyline was developed, and there were no plot holes noticed. I really enjoyed how each named character was well developed, and all their backstories explained. There was nothing I did not like about this book. I especially liked how the setting was not limited to one specific region, and how detailed the writer was when describing the different areas. It certainly allowed me to really feel like I was there travelling with him to these places.
It was very hard to stop reading once I had started, as this book is an absolute page-turner. While I understand that this book is a part of a trilogy, I would have liked it to have a different ending; one that eases you into the cliffhanger, rather than coming to an abrupt end. Although this is the case, it does not detract from the fact that it was a great book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, as I believe it definitely deserves the highest rating. It was well written and appeals to different audiences. It is not too graphic for young adults, and it is not too simple for adults. If you love science fiction or fantasy, this is definitely a must-have.

I envy him. I love to travel, it would be quite the super power to have.Roggyrus wrote: ↑19 Feb 2018, 01:35 The amazing power of Alex (Alex is identical with the author's name) could have immense potential. Although he has to be wary about the legal and moral implications, still he has enough leeway within the law. He could technically be a voyeur, being able to access people's personal files, where he could view private photos of women. Although in this aspect, he need only log in to a pornographic site, without using any power except electric power. In the story, he became a modern-day Robin Hood, transferring money from rich people's account to needy individuals. I like that. Which reminds me, got to check my PayPal for unknown transfers (lol). An interesting book to read. Thanks for the review, I could now wander into the world of fantasy.
