This is an evocative and emotive fantasy romantic adventure that takes on the lives of its characters with great sensitivity and depth. It is about a young blacksmith named Galen Bray, who seeks a new beginning in the kingdom of Voulhire. Along with him, the story is studded with other characters, too, like Lord Eldus, who desperately tries to create peace in Hillport, and the mysterious Meldorath, who is dark in his art and cruel in the usage of magic. The novel is replete with unexpected events like the attack of Riva Rohavi on Hillport and the mysterious powers of Meldorath, all of which make it an interesting read.

The thing that impresses me most about We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is how it imparts values, lessons in life, and the importance of deep connections through its characters. I find the relationship between Galen and the townsfolk of Magnum Caelum touching. This becomes a scene-stealer as Galen first meets the quirky mayor of Magnum Caelum, proof that this author has a knack for making such scenes memorable and touching. Themes of love, friendship, and loyalty are in full force and deeply intertwined with much of this book.

In a world where everybody wants to be on an island and everything seems channeled toward personal benefits, one has to appreciate and know the true relationship, friendship, community, loyalty, and honor. This book really did a good job of opening my eyes to appreciate all these and more. I see nothing in the book that I would dislike, and it is written with such caution.

I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because it does teach about life and its deep connections with the main characters, such as Galen and the town folk of Magnum Caelum. He has a way of creating moments and reasons behind the love, friendship, and loyalty that add meaning to the story.

Living in a world where every soul wants only to be an island and personal benefits are held high, valuing true relationships, friendship, community, loyalty, and honor become basic. The book is overall well edited and error-free. I would recommend this book to readers of adventurous fantasy novels, such as "The Hobbit" and "The Chronicles of Narnia.".
