Galen Bray is a young guy from the war-torn Lands of the Princes, sets off on a big trip to Magnum Caelum to get what is rightfully his. Galen sees new places and meets many interesting people, each with their own goals and plans for anyone blocking their path. There is the nobleman Lord Eldus, willing to change the fate of his town, and Meldorath, the black mage with a mysterious background.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies evolves in the background of complex politics, spectacular magical battles, and characters’ personal development, providing a backdrop of an era on the eve of a shift. Themes of hope, power, and conflict of the forces of light and darkness are developed magnificently, which is why this story becomes a real counterpart of modern fantastic adventure.

What I like about this book is the fact that there are developed concepts within the book as well as developed characters. Matthew Tysz has developed several fully-fledged cultures, political systems, and magical norms that are plausible and quite detailed. It is good to see how hope and endurance are illustrated in the context of the story with the character of Galen. I also found the way the author deals with the problem of power and the effect it has on a person and the choices they have to make. The analysis of the socio-political setting of Voulhire proves to be philosophical and timely; it enriches the story.

I can’t find something that I dislike in this book. It is convenient in terms of pacing and build, the story is compelling, and the main protagonists are easily identifiable. This symbiosis of magic and politics gave me the intrigue of the story, and the author succeeded in maintaining interest in the plot throughout the book.

In my opinion, this book deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The author is a genius storyteller, and the characters have developed very interesting arcs, which is why I give it a high rating. This book’s storyline is well developed and meaningful. I recommend it to readers interested in adventurous stories with twists. The book was exceptionally well edited and error-free.
