King(s), Lords, Mages, magic, war, peace, terrorists, science—this book has it all, but only patient readers can unravel them all because it bears great suspense. At the start of the book, we see Lord Meldorath overthrow the Lord of Hillport and take his position. Meldorath served in the military and is arguably the most powerful mage in Voulhire. He is the reason why the Riva Rohavi hasn't struck in years. We also get introduced to Galen Bray. A refugee from the Lands of Princes who gets a way out thanks to his late uncle. On arrival in Voulhire, he is set to take over his uncle's business and become an independent young man.

This book met my expectations in many ways. I liked how the author includes suspense subtly. The interruptions with another narrative made this book more entertaining as I got to know more characters and learned their backstories and the motivations for their actions. If this book had not had a lot of characters to keep me busy, then I must say that the suspense would have been off-putting to me, but I'm glad it did. I also like that the book was perfectly edited, as I could not pick out a single error throughout my reading experience. The author deserves praise for such editorial flair.

I found nothing to dislike about this book, and in my opinion, it was an actual success. This book is the pilot book of a big series, and I intend to read the other books to continue the story. Hopefully, they will be as good as this one. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the perfect manner in which it executes its various plotlines. I recommend the book to fans of fiction and magic because it is set to sizzle them from start to finish.
