In the third book of 2084 by Kadon Landon Peterson, February is no stranger to pain and disgust at a young age. She knows her father as a satanic figure who ended the world, slashed his wrist right before her eyes, gave her a chunk of his meat to eat, and left her. She does not understand why her dear mother glorifies him, but she carries out her mother's last wish and searches for him. After four years of mining alone, February is excited to detect signs of life on the other side of the tunnel, but her life takes a turn after a tense encounter with Cleo and her master, Seth. As February interacts with the zoomorphic people in the institute Seth takes care of, she learns the brutal truth of her life mission as well as her role in a world where everyone can be cosmetically and genetically altered. Will she have the strength to follow through?

The characters of this book operate on values and attitudes entirely different from those that the readers are used to. It creates a jarring reading experience. It is not surprising to find their views on gender, sexuality, and ethics to be alien at best and deeply troubling at worst. For example, Seth and many of the zoomorphic individuals within the institute embody rigid and dualistic notions about gender. The portrayal of humans and zoomorphic individuals engaging in physical intimacy is shown as casual and normal. Even February, the main character who is gifted with the entirety of human knowledge since birth, has her own prejudices. This book is deliberately explicit and uncomfortable. The discomfort will drive many readers away, but it also presents an opportunity to contemplate themes of intimacy, dominance, submission, boundaries, and consent in a safe and thought-provoking way. Readers can also confront their own assumptions about what makes a relationship meaningful and fulfilling.

To sum up, I do not have anything negative to say about this book. If you are interested in stories that feature religious motifs, foreign moral frameworks, philosophical discussions regarding sex and neuroscience, anthropomorphic animals, explicit content, and deliberately confusing plot lines, the third book of 2084 will be worth your time. I only found two errors while reading, so the editing is great. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

The author's exploration of moral issues also ekes out strong reactions from readers, which is most likely the intent.

In the third book of 2084 by Kadon Landon Peterson, February's journey is one of survival, self-discovery, and painful revelations. Raised in the shadow of her father’s monstrous actions, she embarks on a mission to find him, only to uncover a world of genetic manipulation and hidden truths. A dark and gripping exploration of identity, power, and sacrifice.

Great review! It's not my kind of book, but it sounds interesting for those who do like that genre. I remember reading 1984 way back when, which seemed way out there at the time.

It sounds like this book deals with some heavy themes and is a very gripping story. I don't read much sci-fi as it is not one of my preferred genres, and I am not a fan of books that are very explicit, so I will pass on reading this one. Thank you for your honest and stimulating review.

Thanks for the detailed review! I'm not sure if this book is for me. The themes and discomfort you mentioned sound intense, and I’m a bit on the fence about whether to dive into it or not. It's definitely made me curious, though!

Nice review! However, I dont think that I would really love this book as it is from a genre that am not really passionate about. Thanks for sharing the review!

I can’t say that I will be reading this book. I seriously disliked the first one in the series so much that I had to make myself finish it. The themes written about are so uncomfortable, like you said, that I won’t put me through that again. I am glad that you enjoyed it and that it is practically free of errors. Thanks!

This book is indeed a challenging and intense read. After reading your review, I'm hesitant to choose it, especially since I like to start series in order, and the first one has several warnings. I think I'll pass for now, but I appreciate your honest and insightful review.
