Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
"We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz is a fantasy novel following the story of a young man named Galen Bray, who managed to run away from a war-torn land known as the Land of Princes, traveling across the world to the Kingdom of Voulhire in order to claim the estate his uncle has left him with. He takes control over his uncle's possessions with the help of his uncle's executor, Rowan, and learns about his business. This is the first book in the "We are Voulhire" series.Matthew Tysz has constructed a captivating storyline with well-fleshed characters and a huge setting. The book contains the map of Voulhire just to give the readers an idea about this world. Now, while speaking about magic, action, and adventure—these all are very nicely combined, making one read the entire book from start to end.
"We are Voulhire" tells an adventurously woven tale of survival, bravery, and conquering. The story is set in a magical world. This is a very dangerous and perilous journey that these characters in the story travel across Voulhire. Constantly the story shifts between characters, especially Galen, King Wilhelm, Lord Eldus Alderman, Midius Maido, and one of the most powerful, Meldorath. The whole story, replete with twists and turns, along with magical combat, holds a fever pitch of reader interest right to the end.
This book did not have typical chapters, as we are used to seeing in most books. Instead, it was divided into sections that are named after the characters. The structure of the book was clear; the story development was skillfully organized. I felt that this unusual framing of the chapters worked perfectly for the storyline's advantage. I really liked this book, as it starts off really exciting and suspenseful. I think its a pretty good read. I liked the part where it said Rowan was kind because of Galen's uncle's kindness. That shows you how being kind will benefit everybody. The book contains at the back a glossary that helps you learn about all the places and terms mentioned in the book. Some of their names actually sound alike, but indeed, with the help of the glossary, you could somehow tell the difference. I could not find any dislikes in the book , I think it was well edited as well.
I rate it a 5 out of 5, and I'll always recommend it to anyone who enjoys fast paced , suspense filled fictional stories. It would resonate really well with fantasy tale lovers.
