This book was so great and well-written that I am almost at a loss for words. Kudos to Matthew Tysz for writing We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies. At no point while reading, could I ever predict what would happen next. The author did an amazing job and I even had a few jaw-dropping moments. Initially, I was confused, trying to figure out if it was a story being told by the Old One or someone else, but then I realized it was skipping through various people’s points of view. It took me a while to get used to the switches, but eventually, I found myself looking forward to Galen’s story.

I enjoyed reading about how powerful Alabaster and Meldorath were, especially how everyone underestimated them. Regardless of how evil they were, Meldorath and Alabaster were my favorite characters for their fearlessness and relaxed, powerful behavior. If I were the King, I’d worry every day for my safety and that of others, since these men were so powerful yet never resisted until it was too late. I am happy Galen got a second chance at life; his story was like a bright star in the darkest of nights. I can honestly say that I did not find anything I disliked while reading, as I was so consumed by the book. It did get a bit scary for me with all the dreams, so I stopped reading at night and only read during the day. Yes, I am that easily scared.

I would give this book a full rating of four out of four stars, as I am eager to know more from the following book. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading fiction with a bit of humor, especially the conversations between Demetrius and Rowan.
