We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz transports readers into a vivid and intricate fantasy world brimming with political intrigue, mystery, and magic. The narrative focuses primarily on Galen Bray, a young man fleeing his war-torn homeland to seek a fresh start in the enigmatic kingdom of Voulhire. Matthew Tysz crafts a detailed and immersive universe, complete with complex societal structures and a rich history that will appeal to readers who enjoy deeply developed worlds.

One of the novel's greatest strengths is its world-building. Matthew Tysz masterfully brings the kingdom of Voulhire to life, creating a sense of place with locations like the bustling capital of Soulhire and the more mysterious, quiet town of Magnum Caelum. These settings are distinct, vivid, and full of life. The integration of magic and technology is particularly well executed, adding layers to this already complex world without overwhelming the reader.

The characters, though still in the growth process within this series, are engaging. Galen's innocence and wonder at the new world around him contrast beautifully with the darker, more cynical aspects of Voulhire he encounters. His journey from simple village boy to the complexities of his new inheritance provides great opportunities for growth in future installments. The supporting cast, in the form of the mysterious mage Eldus Alderman and the shrewd merchant Rowan, though not as fleshed out, hold strong promise of being developed much more as the series progresses.

Overall, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. There were no grammar issues found in this book and the book was professionally edited. We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a promising start to what could become a standout fantasy series. The blend of magic, politics, and personal discovery offers something for every fantasy reader. I look forward to seeing where Matthew Tysz takes this story and would recommend it to those who enjoy detailed world-building and fantasy. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series and further exploring the characters and worlds the author sets out.
