The book, Superhighway, is about a young man who discovers that he has an unusual ability. The story begins by describing what it’s like to use the power and how it affects the main character, Alex. The rest of the story takes the reader through Alex’s memories, starting with his humble childhood, and then into more detail about how he discovered his ability and the adventures that this discovery leads him to. During his adventures, Alex, begins to discover more about his mysterious past, giving the reader not only the action that comes with Alex’s abilities, but also a curiosity about who he is and how that has contributed to his powers.

The book is well written and packed with action that grabs and holds the reader’s attention from beginning to end. The author chose to write the story from the first person perspective of the main character to help the reader get into his mind and better understand his thoughts and feelings and why he does the things he does. The character is likable and the reader quickly begins to want to see him succeed. Curiosity about what happens to the character and what his new found abilities are all about keep the reader interested throughout the book.

Despite having unique abilities the main character has all the same physical and emotional needs as everyone else, which makes him more relatable. He does choose to use his powers to help people most of the time, but he is not your typical comic book superhero. I liked that the character was just a human being with the same needs, fears and personal problems as everyone else.

This book would appeal to teens and adults who enjoy sci-fi or action hero types of stories. The book does have some themes and language that would be inappropriate for younger children. I would recommend that parents preview the book before deciding whether or not to allow their child or younger teen to read it.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. The plot was interesting and the main character was easy to relate to. There was a lot of action and some mystery surrounding the main character’s past. The book leaves the reader wanting to know more about what’s going to happen with the character. I look forward to reading additional books by this author. I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to others.
