Any book with a female lead will always be a book with a strong plot and message as well. 'Rise of the Savior' by Antoine Bonner stands true to this sentiment. From the very first page, the readers will find themselves immersed in the peculiarities of a normal life, a dynamic of four people at best, where there are caring but overbearing parents, two vastly different siblings, and a camaraderie amongst them all that just exists.

The story's plot revolves around the elder child, the slightly rebellious and unserious child who is suddenly thrust into the world with the weight of responsibilities on her shoulders. Amanda is a teenager on the way to adulthood, shifting from high school to college. The world is on the cusp of her horizon. She has a carefree demeanor like all teenagers do yet she is honest when she speaks. On the other hand, her younger sister is just as silent and observant; she sees and feels things that others can't, and her personality can be best described as cryptic.

At the end of the day, it is only for so long that Amanda can ignore the things that demand her very attention. It is the reality of the truth and shouldering the responsibility of saving the world that makes Amanda sit up and take action. Honestly it is also the only option she has as well, there’s no space for wishful thinking or escapism. The book touches on minute moments in an otherwise large narrative, like the bond between siblings beyond the silly fights, the fierce love of Jamie for his son, the feelings of fear and sacrifice, and loss and love that are pivotal to the plot.

The book is the perfect fit for young adult audiences as well as lovers of sci-fi and mystery. Ultimately, 'Rise of the Savior' is a book about staying strong in the face of adversity, as the good will always triumph in the end. The editing of the book seems to be done with utmost care, and there are no problems as such. I'd rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. There is nothing negative to be remarked upon.
