A thrilling tale about growing up fast and hard, Superhighway by Alex Fayman is a quick read with a unique science fiction twist. Opening with the main character, Alex Fine, contemplating his recent past, the reader soon discovers his unique talent. Alex can travel anywhere in the world via the internet!

Alex grew up in an orphanage in the poorest part of town with the love and support of his surrogate mother and orphanage owner, Ms. Jenkins. He is a reserved, conscientious young man. Alex cares little about his past and is only vaguely interested in his future. When he's nearly an adult, the orphanage finally gets a computer lab. Alex, who loves reading and technology, is fascinated. Ms. Jenkins allows him to stay on his own in the lab late one night. And that night, he accidentally stumbles accross his ability to travel via internet. What transpires next is a marvelous story of global travel in which Alex finds adventure to fulfill his dreams, love to thrill his heart and sadly, tragedy to test his character.

Although the story idea of growing up fast and hard has been told many times and in many different ways, this author gives the reader such a unique twist that Superhighway becomes a fast paced, phenomenal read. Still, in the beginning, reading this story gets confusing with the location jumps until you understand what is going on, which thankfully, doesn't take long and flows nicely from then until the finish.

The cliffhanger at the end of the story had me hunting for the next book. Mr. Fayman sets the stage well for his series. I was truly impressed with Alex Fine's backstory and the tie-in with his abilities, since traveling via internet is not his only ability. With his other abilities, he learns of his past. And what Alex learns will have a profound effect on his future which is true of us all. This point is an excellent takeaway from this story.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Superhighway by Alex Fayman is well written, edited and proofread. Mr. Fayman does an excellent job of drawing his readers into the story. Young readers dreaming about growing up and the possiblities of being an adult would enjoy this story. And although, some violence and imagery may not work for younger children, this is a story of growing up to which anyone can relate.
