Review of Doyle's Law

Sam Roberts’s Doyle's Law is a remarkable thriller! The plot is unique in many ways, especially its engrossing after-effect in a nail-biting sci-fi thriller. The idea of a lost hope in a space transit looms over the crew in the story. Their fates are all looped together yet independent. The author has created a spellbinding thrill through his powerful characters and a fantasy-filled story.
The author's writing is highly intense, filled with a sense of urgency right from the beginning, giving an ultimate effect to the write-up. In a dystopian world, the story begins with a lot of chaos in a spaceship, now destined to get back to Earth. This ship is to be abandoned and the crew to return safely. They have a huge task at hand, and the team is up for the task. It is a small team of three caretakers: Benson, McSweeney, and O’Connor. O’Connor has an enigmatic personality that makes him both friend and foe to his team at the same time. His teammates were overwhelmed by their duties, although trying to cope amidst a dearth of resources.
Also onboard with the crew is a scientist working on some special ore, which is the last speck of his retribution for his lost acclaim. This Mercurian ore was to be characterized, and it held a promise to this old scientist of more value than probably his life. Dr. Ryburn is a senior scientist who has been associated with many projects. However, these projects seemed to be caught in some ill-fated outcomes. This trip, even if so doomed, had a good omen that only Dr. Ryburn could sense.
The story takes a splendid twist as it unfolds. The chief finds himself in a difficult paradox. His conscience is overwhelmed with how much he could influence his fate through his actions. O’Connor is trapped in these catastrophic events that seem irreversibly entwined with his fate. He painstakingly maintains the usual work routine of his crew, always fearful of whether they are going to survive. Little did he know that his fate had even more elaborate plans for him.
The second half of the story adds to the thriller quotient! O’Connor stumbles upon an intense journey and finds new friends. They are in constant flux. Their story moves fast with every passing hour, changing the course of their eventual fate in space. Their fates are now sealed also to find solutions for a larger cause and not just to save their lives.
Positive and negative aspects of the book:
The author's research on magnetism and its impact on an unprecedented ore is highly intriguing to read about. It inculcates strangely entertaining tones to the story. The author minds his characters beautifully, highlighting their features through their intelligent interactions. He has successfully created varied character sketches. However, with only a few characters, he has made the story remarkably gripping. Equally interesting is his world-building because of the intelligent characters and plot, with a timely evaluation of an absurd sci-fi issue in a dystopian story. They are trapped in a paradox-like situation. Only to learn about their own selves more closely while working out the reality of their dilemmas. How their catastrophic course blends with a unique rescue mission is the selling point of this book. I found many errors in the book's editing. As a negative aspect, I would point out that the first part of the book seems long and drawn-out. Besides that, I don't have anything negative to report about the book. Based on these aspects, I would rate the book 4 out of 5 stars for its immense thrill, unique plot, and interestingly captivating theme. I would recommend the book to fans of sci-fi thrillers.
