Heaven and Earth: by Arturo Riojas. A fascinating science fiction book that talks about two thing; (1)The story of some space travelers (aliens) and their encounter with our planet earth, and (2) Discoveries of some harmful heavy metal in our foods for instance cadmium.
After their first coming into our world, the aliens under a new commander Egroeg the son of a powerful lord of the ruling Drutsab Clan and Head Officer of Total Security and High Intelligence of Treretum, was on a new mission to collect data based on the life style of his subject the "earthlings". His discoveries were quick, accurate and fascinating. In fact most of we humans are not even aware of some of the things he discovered or maybe we just choose to ignore them.
Ogla an aeronautical engineer, a Texan, who works as a principal researcher at NASA had an encounter with Cuauhtémoc Gavilán a Mexican during her junior year at Stanford powwow. Both fell in love but did not tell the other. The book contains more of their adventures together.
This is one of the most fascinating science fiction book I have read so far. In large part, this is due to connection between the aliens discovery and that of Ogla's, the smartness of the aliens, their technology advancement and their abilities. Ogla was on the verge of discovering an alien spacecraft that might belong to the Treretumians that first came to our world. Another is the truth about the poisons in the food we eat "cadmium, mercury, etc", how it got into our foods, how it affects us and what types of foods that contain them.
The stories in this book are truly fascinating and amusing, because I found myself thinking and wondering if we are not alone, is there are other forms of life beyond our reach? How close they might be to us, are they coming to us? When and why? Does NASA know of any alien form out there? Are we living in the shadows? Another is the poisons in our foods, does the Government know about this? What are they doing concerning it? Or do they have a hand in it. Why have they kept a lot of the masses in the shadows? I also got carried away by the adventures of Ogla and Gavilàn and their encounter with one of the aliens, the way they ran out of their car without hesitation as soon as they heard his voice from the back sit. That was very funny.
Arturo Riojas's write up is very beautiful and its as though he was writing from experience this is one of the best-edited books I have ever heard the pleasure of reading. I encountered one error in the book. The jokes told by Gavilàn were quite not funny.
Honestly I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this book. With all pleasure, I give Heaven and Earth 4 out of 4 stars. The book is a beautiful work that not just only captivate the mind of the readers and get them wondering about the universe but also reveals some truth about the poison we consume in our daily foods. I recommend this book to everybody. Though its a science fiction book but its not only for the lovers of science.
